You Protect Your UTV. Now Protect Yourself.

I’ve been riding since I was five years old. ATVs, dirt bikes, motorcycles, and eventually UTVs. I’ve eaten more trail dust than I care to admit. I’ve come home from rides with grit in my teeth, dust in my sinuses, and that familiar dry, scratchy feeling in my throat that every serious off-road rider knows.

In 2010, I started RZ Mask because I was already deep in the powersports world — and I saw a gap. Riders were spending serious money protecting their machines. But almost nobody was talking about protecting themselves.

That’s still true today. And it’s time to change it.

The Rider Who Upgrades Everything

You know this rider. You might be this rider.

You’ve got a Polaris RZR, a Can-Am Maverick X3, a Polaris Ranger, a Can-Am Defender, a CFMOTO UForce, a CFMOTO ZForce — or something else that makes your heart rate go up just thinking about it. You’ve put real money into that machine. Not just the purchase price. The upgrades.

The windshield — because you want to see clearly and stay comfortable at speed. The roof or cab enclosure — because weather happens and comfort matters on long rides. The mirrors — because knowing what’s behind you is part of riding smart. The LED light bar — because you ride early, you ride late, and you want to see every rock, rut, and turn ahead. The storage boxes and cargo systems — because serious riders carry tools, tow straps, water, first aid, and everything else that makes a long day on the trail possible.

You clean your engine air filter because you know a dirty filter hurts performance. You protect the machine because you love the ride.

Here’s the question I’ve been asking riders for fifteen years: Why does the engine get a clean air filter, but the rider doesn’t?

The Trail Gives Us Freedom. It Also Gives Us Dust.

Trail dust is part of the culture. We know it. We accept it. But accepting it doesn’t mean ignoring it.

When you’re running hard on a dry trail, through a field, across a dune, or down a dirt road, the dust doesn’t just stay behind you. It rolls into the cab. It comes from the sides. It comes from the riders ahead of you. It hangs in the air long after the machine passes. Fine particles — the kind you can’t always see — stay suspended and get pulled into every breath you take.

You come home and you feel it. Dry throat. Scratchy sinuses. That post-ride cough that lingers. That feeling of being beat up that isn’t just from the bumps.

Riders should use properly fitted respiratory protection to help reduce inhalation of airborne dust and particles on the trail. That’s not weakness. That’s experience.

Five Upgrades You’ve Already Made. One You Haven’t.

1. Windshields

A quality windshield on your RZR, Ranger, Maverick X3, Defender, UForce, or ZForce changes the ride. Wind, debris, and bugs stay out. But dust? Dust is different. It’s fine enough to find every gap, every edge, every moment the cab isn’t perfectly sealed. A windshield is a great upgrade. It’s not a breathing solution.

2. Roofs and Cab Enclosures

A roof keeps the sun and rain off. A full cab enclosure adds serious weather protection and comfort. But on a dusty group ride, when doors open and close, when riders dismount and remount, when fine particles are already airborne — the cab is not airtight. Dust finds a way.

3. Mirrors

Mirrors help you see what’s behind you — including the dust cloud your group is kicking up. Knowing the dust is there is useful. Not breathing it is better.

4. LED Light Bars

A good light bar helps you see the trail ahead in low light. It also illuminates the dust hanging in the air in front of you. Visibility is critical. So is what you’re breathing in that lit-up dust cloud.

5. Storage and Cargo Systems

Serious riders pack for serious rides. Tools, tow straps, water, snacks, first aid, spare parts, gloves, goggles. The storage box is part of being prepared. A dust mask belongs in that box — right next to the gloves and goggles.

Your Lungs Are Not a Replaceable Part

Here’s the thing about every upgrade on that list: if something breaks or wears out, you can replace it. New windshield. New light bar. New storage box. New mirrors.

Your lungs don’t work that way.

I built RZ Mask in 2010 because I was a rider who understood this. Not a corporate product manager. Not an outsider looking at the market. A rider. Someone who had spent years breathing trail dust and decided there had to be a better way.

RZ Mask uses an active carbon filter system designed to help reduce inhalation of airborne dust and particles. It’s built to be breathable, comfortable, and durable enough for real riding conditions — not a flimsy disposable that fogs your goggles and falls apart after one ride.

We partnered with Polaris and Can-Am early on because the powersports community recognized what we were building. This mask was made for this world because we are part of this world.

The Next Logical Upgrade

You already care about your machine. You already care about your visibility, your comfort, your storage, your safety, and your ride experience. Protecting your lungs is the next logical upgrade.

Not because someone told you to. Because you’re the kind of rider who thinks ahead. Who prepares. Who takes the ride seriously enough to do it right.

Protect the ride. Protect the rider.

FAQ: Dust Protection for UTV and Side-by-Side Riders

How do I stop breathing dust in a UTV?

A properly fitted dust mask with active carbon filtration — like the RZM3 by RZ Mask — is designed to help reduce inhalation of airborne dust and particles while riding. Combined with a windshield and cab enclosure, it gives you layered protection on dusty trails.

What is the best dust mask for UTV riding?

The RZM3 by RZ Mask was built specifically for the powersports industry in 2010. It uses an active carbon filter, fits securely under goggles and helmets, and is designed for real riding conditions — not just light-duty use.

Does a UTV windshield protect you from dust?

A windshield significantly reduces wind and debris, but fine trail dust can still enter the cab from the sides, rear, and through gaps. Respiratory protection adds an important layer that a windshield alone cannot provide.

What accessories do serious UTV riders carry?

Tools, tow straps, first aid, water, goggles, gloves, spare parts — and increasingly, a quality dust mask. Respiratory protection is becoming part of the serious rider’s essential kit.

Is RZ Mask good for Polaris RZR, Can-Am, and CFMOTO riders?

Yes. RZ Mask has partnered with Polaris and Can-Am and is used by riders across all major UTV brands including CFMOTO UForce, CFMOTO ZForce, Polaris Ranger, Can-Am Defender, Can-Am Maverick X3, and more.
